Spring is Coming

We accumulated 7 more inches of snow throughout Monday night and all day yesterday.  Needless to say, it hardly looks like spring outside.  It doesn’t even look like spring is thinking about coming.

However, despite the fresh snow, there are still signs that winter is making its departure and spring will return.  The days are progressively getting longer.  The sun is rising when I wake up in the morning and doesn’t set until my husband gets home from work.  Likewise, the sun is rising higher in the sky and doesn’t leave an eerie feeling that it is 4:30 p.m. when it’s only 2:30 p.m.  When I drove to Walmart this morning, I could hear birds singing–something not heard in the bitter days of January.
These little signs remind me that no matter how long the winter seems, spring always returns.  Even though there is a snowman currently standing in our yard, very soon he will be replaced with blooming flowers and budding trees.  I’ll let you know when that happens!
You’ll be leaving soon, Mr. Snowman, but I’ll miss you come July!
Are there any signs of spring where you live?
